Black-Led Banks Receive $100 Million Investment From Netflix
After George Floyd was murdered, Netflix promised to invest in Black financial institutions and the company said it has kept that promise by investing $100 million. Netflix said it has kept its promise and invested $100 million into six Black-led banks in the United States.
According to Variety, this is part of Netflix’s initiative to allocate two percent of its cash holdings into banks servicing Black communities. In June 2020, when social justice was at the center of public discussion following George Floyd’s murder, Netflix announced its plans to invest capital in Blank banks. More

American-born French performer Josephine Baker is the first Black woman to be honored at France’s Panthéon.
Josephine Baker is a multi-award-winning entertainer, and her list of achievements just grew longer with her induction as the first Black woman into the Panthéon in Paris, France. According to its website, the Panthéon is the French nation’s temple, created by architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot to fulfill Louis XV’s desire to glorify the monarchy in the shape of a cathedral dedicated to Saint Geneviève, Paris’ patron saint. Stacey Abrams Launches Second Bid to Become Georgia’s Governor
Democrat Stacey Abrams is ready to enter the political arena yet again, announcing her bid to become Georgia’s governor. Abrams made the announcement Wednesday, saying, “I’m running for Governor because opportunity in our state shouldn’t be determined by zip code, background or access to power.” According to The Hill, no other Democrat has entered the Georgia gubernatorial race and it remains unlikely any other candidate will seek the Democrat nomination.
